The five photographs in this volume, with their title at the source, their author, the address of their page of origin, their licence and the date on which it was checked.
What this chapter commits the house to
This volume carries five photographs. All of them are free: their licence was taken from the page of origin of the image, then checked again on the day the image entered this book. An image whose licence cannot be traced to its source does not go in, and there is no exception.
Three of these images are in the public domain: two because their author placed them there deliberately, the third because it was taken by an employee of a federal agency of the United States in the course of their duties, and works of that kind are not protected by copyright there. A fourth carries the Creative Commons Zero dedication, whose text can be read at https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/. The fifth is under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 licence, which requires that the author be credited, which the list below does, and whose text can be read at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/.
Each photograph has been cropped to the format of the page and recoloured in the colours of the house. That is a modification, the licence requires it to be stated, and every entry states it. The caption placed under an image therefore carries no attribution: it carries what the image teaches. The credit lives here, once, and once only.
One subject of this volume was left without an image, and that is deliberate: the meeting of two watercourses, in chapter 6. The only free photograph found that really showed it relied on the difference of COLOUR between the two waters, and the treatment used by the house brings every image back to a single range: the demonstration disappeared. An image that no longer shows what it promises is worth no more than no image at all.
